Academic Assistant

1. Introduction

With the aim of building an advanced model in the Higher Education system in Vietnam, promoting innovation and bringing the quality of Higher Education in Vietnam to a high level in the region and the world, the University of Science and Technology of Hanoi (USTH), also called Vietnam France University, was established in 2010 in Vietnam. USTH is operated under the Intergovernmental Agreement between Vietnam and France, signed on November 12 2009 and the Decision No. 2067/QD-TTg dated December 9 2009 of the Prime Minister. As an international Vietnamese public university with a new model of organization and operation, USTH is offering teaching programs in association with plenty of practical exercises and internships. After 8 years of establishment, USTH has more than 100 academic and administration staff, including 40 lecturers/researchers and this figure has sharply increased. More than 700 students have enrolled at USTH during the last few years and this number is also rising.

2. Objectives of the assignment

The academic assistant will support the Aeronautical Bachelor and Master programs, the Space and Aeronautical (SA) Department in managing daily activities of the programs. He/she will also assist leaders, lecturers and students of the programs with administration and academic tasks and serve as the main administration contact point for the programs.

3. Scope of WorkMain responsibilities include but are not limited to the followings:

  • Assisting coordinators in developing the plan of lectures for each semester and academic year.
  • Inviting external lecturers to deliver courses of the programs as assigned by the coordinators.
  • Collecting information from lecturers/researchers and providing these for the related departments/ persons to work on accommodation, travel and visa issues for lecturers/ researchers.
  • Preparing teaching contracts for inviting lecturers/ researchers if assigned.
  • Following and checking monthly timesheets for lecturers and working with related departments/persons to pay for them timely.
  • Assisting in the arrangement of recruitment juries, course schedules, timetables, fieldtrips, outdoor activities, examinations and related academic and administration issues to ensure the smooth running of the programs.
  • Assisting coordinators in dealing with exam results and enquiries on the results in case of students ‘claims.
  • Assisting coordinators in issuing academic transcripts to students when needed.
  • Coordinating with other colleagues to organize specific seminars, conference as assigned.
  • Assisting in important events of USTH, such as: Open Day – Orientation Day – Graduation Day and Marketing campaign also.
  • Performing other related tasks assigned or required by the French coordinator of the Aeronautical Program, Director of the Undergraduate School, Head of the SA Department, Head of the Master office, and the Rectorate Board.

4. Qualifications, skill and experience requirements

  • Having Bachelor’s degree in fields, such as: education, foreign languages, science and technology and/or relevant fields.
  • At least 01 year working experience in education sector is an advantage.
  • Good English skills.
  • Good French is an advantage.
  • Willing to work in the weekend will be a plus.
  • Strong communication skills and organizational skills.
  • Strong time management and problem solving skills.
  • Professionalism, creativity and responsibility.
  • Proficient with all MS Office softwares, including: MS Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Application Engineer

  1. Introduction

University of Science and Technology of Hanoi (USTH), also – called “Vietnam-France University”, is an unique International Standard Public University in Hanoi established in 2009 under the Intergovernmental Agreement between Vietnam and France signed on November, 12th 2009, following the decision number 2067/QĐ-TTg on December, 9th 2009 made by the Prime Minister. USTH always focuses on promoting the high quality of training courses in parallel with research activities and strong connections with the leading companies in science and technology in Vietnam. The PLMCC (Product Lifecycle Competency Centre) under USTH is a state of the art training centre that delivers basic to advanced level trainings on Dassault Systèmes PLM tools (Product Lifecycle Management). Dassault Systèmes is the leading company in PLM area in the world market. PLMCC provides dedicated training and course material on PLM concepts to prepare customers for virtual product development, covering 3D CAD, CAM, Simulation and virtual production processes in a collaborative way. All industrial areas are covered, including aeronautics, automotive, consumer goods and manufacturing. PLMCC is member of a world network with many partnerships with other institutions. In 2018, USTH established a FabLab, an innovative space in order to enhance USTH training activities, small scale technology transfer processes, related softskills and internships for students at all level and all disciplines, and particularly emphasizing entrepreunerships skills of USTH students. Fablab will be equipped with modern mechanical, electrical, electronic and IT equipment such as: 3D Printer, CNC machine, Laser cutter machine, 3D Scaner, Soldering stations, Oscilloscopes,… Where all the students in the USTH, the outside students, people who love innovation, startups, industrial company.. can come to study, practice, share and collaborate in an intership, projects or producs. The Fablab members will use official PLM software (CATIA, DELMIA, SIMULIA, ENOVIA) in PLMCC for Design and Simulation. Then they will make prototype with all the tools and equipment of Fablab.

2. Objectives of the assignment 

Application Engineer to execute and manage the tasks and activities related to PLMCC and Fablab. This staff will be positioned as a member of PLMCC as well as Community Manager for USTH FabLab.

     3. Scope of Work

Main responsibilities include but are not limited to the followings:
– Contributing to the training programs CAD/CAM/CAE/PLM managed by PLMCC
– Contributing to other activities of PLMCC connected with industry linkages, follow up of students internships
– Taking care of practical functioning of the equipments of FabLab
– Helping students to use FabLab facilities for practical internships or projects
– Contributing to the academic involvement of FabLab with all training and research departments of USTH
– Contributing to FabLab Community entrepreneurships atmosphere at USTH
– Contributing to the global strategy of USTH regarding topics such as: training, research, innovation and technology transfer.
– Performing others tasks assigned or required by the Heads of FabLab, PLMCC and the Rectorate Board.

    4. Qualifications, skill and experience requirements

– Having at least the Engineer or Bachelor degree and have experience in the fields of mechatronics, electronic or automation.
– Have experience working with embedded systems.
– Strong knowledge of CAD / CAM / CAE / PLM software such as: CATIA, Solid Works, NX,…. and numerical simulation soft wares such as: Simulink, Matlab, Labview, Modelica,…etc. will be appreciated
– Teaching and R&D experiences will be appreciated.
– Fluency in English is appreciated.

Educational Engineer

  1. Introduction

With the aim of building an advanced model in the Higher Education system in Vietnam, promoting innovation and bringing the quality of Higher Education in Vietnam to a high level in the region and the world, the University of Science and Technology of Hanoi (USTH) was established in 2010 in Vietnam. USTH is operated under the Intergovernmental Agreement between Vietnam and France, signed on November 12 2009 and the Decision No. 2067/QD-TTg dated December 9 2009 of the Prime Minister.
As an international public university with a new model of organization and operation, USTH recognize the role crutial of pedagogy including the innovation pedagogy in the higher educational environment. The university is offering teaching programs in association with plenty of practical exercises and internships at USTH and our partners’ laboratories, such as: research centres, enterprises in Vietnam and abroad. USTH is strongly supported in the academic field through a French consortium of over fourty higher education and research institutions and by the French government. Thus, USTH is always looking for an upgraded toolkit of teaching strategies and skills to offer appropriate learning opportunities to all our students; and develops continualy the best ways of training.

2. Objectives of the assignment 

The Educational Engineer is responsible for the promotion and assistance to:
– The use of new pedagogies in USTH and is constantly testing innovative approaches to teaching and learning;
– The use of new technologies adapted to teaching and learning as well in face-to-face training; blended and/or distance learning.

     3. Activities
Training support
The Educational Engineer:
– support pedagogical team in USTH (lecturers, coordinators, etc.) to (i) enhance the teaching and training quality and to (ii) realize their pedagogical project,
– organize the training workshops, activities, events, etc. related to the pedagogy in order to promote the new way of teaching and learning.

ICTT (Information and Communication Technologies adapted to Teaching) support
The Educational Engineer:
– In term of technology intelligence, keep track of the latest technological developments applying to training
– Identify opportunities from new emerging technologies for USTH training needs and possible tests
– Collaborate with the International Cooperation Unit and related Departments about the call projects related to ICTT
– Support and collaborate with IT Department about technical aspects of teaching devices (Moodle for e.g.): implementation, development, administration, maintenance, etc.
– Pedagogical and technical accompaniment of all USTH lecturers in the project related to ICTT:

  •  To interface with all pedagogical teams about the conception of training material and with developers about applications, systems and networks,
  •  To implement the production chain and media coverage of all contents incompliance with ergonomic, graphic and quality charters,
  •  To ensure the teachers training in the field of blended and distance training,
  •  To prepare functional specifications to create new resources,
  •  To ensure a techno-educational monitoring,
  •  To write documentation about specific tools and software.

* Evaluation activities
Collaborate with related Departments to manage the Evaluation process in USTH:
– Course evaluation by students process in Bachelor and Master courses,
– Course evaluation by invited teachers process.

    4. Qualifications, skill and experience requirements

The Educational Engineer must possess the knowledge and competences related to the new educational trends in particular with web 2.0: social learning, MOOCs, e-portfolios and personal learning spaces.
He (She) must be able to assist all teaching teams in the conception of these new pedagogical models.
He (She) has to possess basic concepts in the legal field applied to ICTT and keep a close watch about it.

– Having at least the Engineer or Bachelor degree in Multimedia or ICT or Educational sciences.
– Technical skills:

  •  About current legislation concerning copyright and right to image for all visual, audio and textual elements,
  •  About ICTT tools and ease in their daily use (pedagogical platforms, editorial channels, software, content creation, web conference, interactive whiteboard, collaborative tools,…).

– Know-how:

  •  Ensure coordination between the different partners,
  •  Work in interaction with teachers, research teams and technological networks in the field,
  •  Valorize and formalize projects,
  •  Anticipate operating problems and perpetuate resources.

– Pesonal qualities:

  •  Autonomy, spirit of initiative, rigor,
  •  Team spirit and sense of collaboration,
  •  Ability to listen and sense of contact.

– Fluency in English is appreciated. Some knowkedge in French would be considered a plus.
