Business Context and Main Purpose of Job

The Senior Manager R&D Microbiology is a key member of the R&D team and reports directly to the Director R&D Seasoning. He/she manages directly a team of 2 members with strong background in food science, microbiology and biotechnology.

The key role is to lead directly the Micro R&D team within all current and future, if there are, Masan product categories. Will also work very closely with the supply chain teams on advising on appropriate micro, hygiene and food safety design and process issues. Main scope of the job include:

  • Define and deliver works that are relevant with microbiology, biotechnology and their applications
  • Build and maintain micro/biotech capabilities inside R&D and promote its image outside R&D
  • Food safety programs for R&D innovation process, Masan manufacturing plants and suppliers
  • Research activities about microbiology, biotechnology and their applications in company’s products

He/she is also a part of the leadership team in R&D and lead strategic activities approved by senior management.

Key Accountabilities
1. Look after microbiological safety aspects in R&D activities:

  • Assure microbiological stability of new formulations using risk assessment tools like challenge tests or food stability models
  • Work with Spec/System team regarding microbiological components in specifications of raw materials to final products
  • Design R&D procedures or processes that are directly related with microbiology in Masan products
  • Advise microbiological safety in technology transfer and participate where microbiological risks are prominent
  • Design regular training program for R&D people about food safety and basic microbiology

2. Lead micro/biotechnology research programs/projects which are specified by the Board of Directors

3. Build research capability in Micro:

  • Manage a R&D Micro lab including its routine and strategic operations
  • Maintain and improve a Masan type culture collection
  • Develop and maintain relationships with strategic research partners, both locally and overseas.
  • Attend relevant conferences and seminars

4. Support and advise the supply chain in terms of Food Safety programs:

  • Design, verify and validate standard cleaning and sanitizing methods for new products or technologies in Masan. Work with Food Safety team in ensuring these are issued in the of Good Hygiene Practices (GHP) and Hygiene Monitoring Standards.
  • Work closely with QA/Food Safety Team in relevant food safety programs or projects.
  • Inspect new suppliers, processing lines or plants in terms of food safety/micro safety aspects (with QA/Food Safety Team)
  • Participate in task forces to solve quality issues or crisis related with microbiology from raw materials to finished products.
Yêu cầu công việc

Ideally postgraduate degrees in Food Science/Technology with Microbiology or Biotechnology majors

At least 3-4 year working experience in food manufacturing environment. QA experience in food and beverage production environment is an advantage

Show abilities to conduct microbiology/biotechnology research. A substantial research record in food is a great advantage

Team leadership. Be able to work independently and in group

Communication skills: ability to present information, both written and verbally in Vietnamese and preferably English. Be able to communicate across various functions.

Planning and project management skills

Ability to work under pressure and fast moving environment. Possess a can-do attitude and solution-oriented mindset
